One word resolutions in front of new year
Do you select New Years Resolutions every year? Or maybe you choose A word for the year? I have done both and I prefer to choose One Word!
Definition of resolution: a firm decision to do or not to do something. The thing about resolutions is that they sound simple. But changing behavior is difficult.
Unless you write down your resolutions and then follow through on them, resolutions can even be forgotten before February. Alternatively, if you were to select A word, keeping that word in your memory is much easier than resolutions.
According to Statista, the top New Year’s resolutions in the United States include:
To eat healthier
Do more exercise
Lose weight
Save money
Learn a new skill or hobby
Be more successful in 2020
Unfortunately, the resolutions that are made at the beginning of the year are NOT enforced. Studies have shown that approximately 75% of resolutions do NOT make it to February. Oh!
Instead of creating a resolution that you won’t stick to and won’t even remember, select a Word of the Year!
A word of the year is a fun way to set the theme for the year. Your word is a guide that can
Set a theme for the year
Stay focused
Create positive change
Keep you aware of your intentions
In 2015, I was introduced to the concept of Word of the Year for the first time. In fact, I enjoyed every word and what it represents to me. Many mornings I will think about my One Word and what it means to me that day.
It is essential that your One Word has meaning to you. This is not a word for anyone else.
This is a list of the unique words that I have chosen for the last 5 years:
2015 – Bold
2016 – Action
2017 – Engaged
2018 – Today
2019 – Love
2020 – ?????
