McAfee Security Center and other security programs like Norton are very difficult to completely remove from computers. Even if you have uninstalled it from your computer, its components remain in the installation folders.

What’s worse, when you try to install the latest version of Mcafee or another antivirus on your computer, it says that you have not uninstalled Mcafee and cannot install other programs. That really drives people crazy.

How can we get rid of it completely? I did my research and found a very easy way to remove Mcafee completely. Before I tell you how to remove it, I will explain the reason for this error. When you uninstall Mcafee, some Mcafee keys still remain in the registry. Or some registry keys are corrupted due to some illegal Mcafee operations. Those are the factors causing the problem.

So we not only need to uninstall it, but also remove those keys from its registry and fix other registry keys. Now let me tell you how to remove Mcafee Security Center manually.

1. Go to Control Panel and uninstall Mcafee Security Center. If you cannot uninstall it in Control Panel, follow the steps below.

2. Restart the computer and press F8. You will enter safe mode. Find the location of Mcafee and delete the folder entirely. Note that you must delete all the files in that folder.

3. Click Start-Run and enter “regedit” to open the Registry Editor. Look for [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-SOFTWARE-Microsoft-windows-CurrentVersion-Uninstall] for the Mcafee icon.

4. Right-click the icon and click “Delete”. Then delete the key and all subkeys below the icon. Restart the computer.

This method generally works. After completing the steps above, you need to repair other corrupted registry keys and optimize your computer. If you still can’t remove it, you can find uninstaller software to help you.
