Ever since Nintendo first released the Wii in 2007, it has been flying off the shelves in every store in the United States and other countries as well. But what is it that makes this particular console so incredibly popular? Well, for one thing, the Wii isn’t just another console and it’s unlike anything we’ve seen since the years Atari first launched.

This gaming console is one where you can really interact with the game, and now with the launch of the new iFit it has outperformed any other system so far. You would think that everyone would love these consoles, right? That is, since September 2008, more than 34.55 million units have been shipped to North America, South America, Japan and other regions.

One would think that Japan would have been this unit of shipments, however, Japan is only at 6.91 million while South America and North America are at 15.19 million and The Financial Times reported that as of September 12, 2007 their sales have been the leader of his generation. One of the named features of this particular console is its wireless controller, also called a remote control, which can be used on a handheld pointing device and detect movement in three dimensions.

With all these important record stats, you’d think everyone would love a Wii, but it’s actually quite the opposite. People often refer to this as the “child system” with its interactive roots, and play like attributes, many people don’t see this particular system as a real system. I guess for my generation we think if we can’t just be lazy and sit on a couch then it must be a stupid idea.

I don’t particularly feel the same as some of these people! In fact, I think the Wii’s unique factors make it an amazing game console and a REAL, tried-and-true system. Nintendo eliminated most other consoles because it IS an interactive system! That was the point! To get people to take off their diapers and start moving more than just their fingers.

When I first heard about Wii and iFit, I thought it was an amazing idea to engage anyone and everyone, old or young. Getting people to participate in an activity that they might as well have fun with and potentially get people’s hearts racing with games like Guitar Hero and Boxing. I mean there is literally no other innovator like Nintendo. Game consoles are a dime a dozen and a new one comes out every year; console, portable or otherwise.

Frankly, I don’t think anyone will ever catch up with the unique inventive stuff that Nintendo did when it launched the Wii, and even if they did later on, there will still be millions upon millions who will remember that the Wii has conquered gaming. universe!

Other game consoles from the ever popular Nintendo include the following:
