You wake up one good day feeling a twinge in your throat. The heartbeat doesn’t stop even when you’ve already brushed your teeth, cleaned your tongue, and gargled your favorite mint. When you look in the mirror and open your mouth, you see white spots on your throat. Stupid! Yes, it is some kind of rubble stuck there. Well, you don’t really have to worry because the same thing happens to each and every one of us. It is not uncommon for people to experience it.

Having white patches in the throat is usually accompanied by a sore throat. Many people have them constantly. It is more prone to those who do not take good care of their teeth. If you experience this, you can visit a doctor or see if it can be remedied at home.

Tonsil stones are also called tonsillitis. A person who suffers from this not only feels pain, but probably also has difficulty swallowing food. Much to the shame, these simple white spots at the back of the throat can cause bad breath and a buildup of bacteria in the mouth. How exactly do they start?

Some people believe that white patches are caused by a build-up of bacteria in the throat. There are also experts who believe that it has something to do with abnormalities in the salivary glands. However, these beliefs do not have a solid foundation. The most reasonable explanation for the existence of white spots in the throat lies in the anatomical point of view.

Anatomically, our tonsils have holes. These pits are known as crypts. A skin called mucosa covers the outer surface of the tonsils and crypts. Our mouth, nasal cavity, sinuses, and gastrointestinal tract also have mucosa that serves as the lining of organs. Without our realizing it, the mucosa sloughs off. The shedding rate varies for different people based on their metabolism. All people also lose the mucosa of the tonsils. Unfortunately, the mucosa sometimes accumulates in the crypts. The sloughed mucosa then comes out, hardens, and turns into white patches in the throat.

Some tonsillitis are really small, but others can grow as big as popcorn and even marbles. With this, the irritation becomes stronger. If the spots are prominent, it is recommended to seek help from a doctor. I have suffered from these white bumps and they actually told me they were tonsil stones. I managed to get rid of the tonsil stones using a home remedy.
