Feng shui cures or enhancers are used to suppress bad chi or to encourage good chi to visit. At Flying Star School, items need to be moved on a yearly and monthly basis to make the necessary changes appropriately. Yearly problems should always be dealt with first, and then ‘little tai chi’ is used to fix monthly afflictions.

One thing that is rarely addressed with articles is that of chipped or broken objects. First of all, it is considered bad chi to keep any item that is damaged. The standard example involves clothing: if your clothing has holes and the zippers no longer work, you’d get rid of them. The same principle applies to damaged feng shui items. The most important are those cures that are protective.

For things like the 5-element pagoda, ringing bell, crystals, and statues of heavenly deities, a chip or broken limb is believed to be an indication that you’ve been protected by that item. In essence, he has ‘taken a hit for you’ and saved you from some catastrophe. While those who don’t understand this may scoff, those of us who have suffered immensely from being struck down by the bad chi of unfortunate stars make sure we are adequately protected. As stated in previous articles on this topic, “I didn’t even know things like Flying Stars existed, but they got me anyway.”

Some really strange things have happened to some Flying Star Feng Shui practitioners with such protective cures (see some of my previous articles on the subject for my stories). People who can sense subtle energies can immediately tell when the energy has changed for the better. Something as simple as hanging a wind chime in the shaft of a bad star can brighten up the area and make it comfortable. Also to replace a broken or repaired cure; energy changes immediately and simply feel better.

Even if one does not practice feng shui yet, certain items of protective jewelry could have taken a hit for the wearer. This is especially noticeable with new age glassware. Once you’ve used a crystal protective carving and it’s exploded into dust while wearing it, you’ll understand. Since items that have belonged to others can still contain their energy, it’s also a good idea to clean everything before using it. The salt can be rubbed onto the item or “smeared” with steaming sage leaves, or placed in a bowl of salt in the sunlight for several days, or placed in a candle flame, or any other traditional means of cleaning.

For feng shui practitioners, all cures and enhancers are cleared each year before placing them in their new directions. Some need to be replaced; certainly some damaged. Broken items should be treated with respect, not simply thrown away. They can be buried, burned or thrown into the sea after the owner gives thanks for having been protected from some dastardly occurrence. In any case, old or new, the new year calls for new energy, so it’s nice to be able to have enough heals to let rest in the storage area for a bit while the new ones take over the next year.
