Today, we see many Republican members of Congress engender outright aggression by ignoring the rule of law. The rule of law for its blatant refusal to accept our democratic process could very well plunge the United States into another civil war. The consequences of their actions show that they have unilaterally dragged the United States into the swamp that is full of treacherous hangovers that could very well sink the United States. This raises troubling questions at a time when this nation is mired in a quagmire of disturbing contingencies about how to eradicate the pandemic that has caused so much devastation across the country.

When the country and the rest of the world are recovering from a health crisis of incomparable suffering, our entire focus must be on eradicating this deadly disease, and yet some of our most esteemed Republican members of Congress are committing crimes against our democratic principles. This highlights how dysfunctional our government has become. Too many Republicans and Democrats have not only ignored the plight of millions due to the pandemic, but even before this health crisis hit too many Americans, they existed within a paycheck of disaster. And now a group of Republicans has the absolute audacity to refute the electoral process. This only exacerbates the tensions that exist today.

The last four years of Trump’s presidency have turned out like a lousy soap opera. The tirades, the sheer bravado of the baseless claims, and the sheer volume of blatant distortions have made the public fully aware of the dangers their actions have brought to our democracy. The pitfalls that have occurred now when other Republican congressmen do not want to see the tragedies that this president has committed and will continue to do if we allow Trump to continue.

Which reminds me from day one of Trump’s presidency, there has always been a conflict of interest on Trump’s part that should never have been allowed in the first place. However, the Republican party is the main culprit for allowing Trump to get away with murder as he claims. If today certain members of the Republican Party fulfill their determination to contest the presidential elections, we must remember that the same thing that the DNC did in 2016 and in 2020 did the same damage to our political process. The public that followed the DNC’s manipulation of the primaries received little attention to overturn the results. Now, when Republicans and Trump claim electoral fraud or manipulation of the electoral process, the protests are intensified by rhetoric from the media, Trump and certain members of the Republican party.

If what the DNC did to Senator Sanders’ candidacy in 2016 and again in 2020 and you compare it to insisting that Trump is crying, perhaps there could be some reasonable doubt despite the fact that there is no concrete evidence that the Results of this past presidential elections were rigged. This brings us back to the very close election between Nixon and Kennedy in 1960. Vice President Nixon very graciously accepted the results even though the final tally was almost too close to the call. Then let’s take Senator Sanders, who in 2016 and again in 2020 was also very gracious in accepting the results of the primaries even though there was sufficient evidence that the DNC deliberately denied the senator to obtain the necessary ballots for the Democratic nomination.

Now, we are dealing with Trump and his monstrous ego that simply will not accept the final tally of this past presidential election. If Trump hadn’t been so antagonistic to the handling of his White House tenure, the media and many of his current supporters could simply accept the fact that he might be right from the start. Perhaps in about 20 years or so, as we look back, historians will finally realize that the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections were one of the most corrupt elections in our history. There was a movie with Robin Williams called “Man of the Year” that showed that the voting machines were pre-programmed for a particular candidate. It is quite understandable that voting machines can be tampered with and that old saying about choosing leaders could be true.

It is a sad day in our society when we allow certain members of our government to circumvent the rule of law to gain a clear advantage in overriding election results. And yet there are possibilities that could suggest that the United States will now be locked in an obstructive government from now on. The direct consequences of what elected officials continue to do and are allowed to do will slowly dissolve the democratic process that was the foundation of our founding.
