Have you ever been touched on Facebook and wondered what exactly it meant? Well, in this article, we will see the meaning of a Facebook touch. It may mean a lot more than you think.

Whenever I go to Facebook, I see a small part of the screen that says that people have clicked on me. Facebook claims that you can use a nudge to “say hello” to your friends. So I see this push feature on Facebook as a way for my friends to say, “Hi, I’m thinking of you and I miss you.”

So I think a hit feels pretty good.

After receiving a shove, you have the option to return it. This could be translated as a way of saying, “Thank you for thinking of me. I feel the same.”

However, this is only the superficial meaning of a push on Facebook, but if we dig deeper we can find that a push on Facebook means a lot more.

Such was the case with my friend Bob.

Bob asked me recently, “Richard, what does a Facebook pinch mean to you?”

I said: “It is a recognition, a friend saying hello.”

He stated that sometimes it can mean so much more and proceeded to tell me a story.

A long time ago, Bob was good friends with a girl named Alexandra. Alexandra and Bob often took their relationship beyond the friendship level, but it never grew into a full relationship. So after a while Alexandra met someone and ended up marrying this man and invited Bob to the wedding.

As happens when people lead different lives, Bob and Alexandra stopped communicating with each other on a regular basis quite quickly and then didn’t at all. In fact, five years passed without actually speaking to each other.

And then Bob got a push on Facebook from Alexandra out of nowhere. After not communicating for five years, Alexandra suddenly started communication.

Bob wondered about this sudden Facebook hit. Was this just an acknowledgment or was there something else to the story?

Well, it turns out that after Bob checked Alexandra’s Facebook profile, she was single again. Bob decided to push her from behind and see where things led.

In the end, Bob and Alexandra started dating and now they have plans to get married.

So while a touch from Facebook is often just an acknowledgment, sometimes it can say so much more!
